BPC 4-Part Series:
Cultivating Mindfulness, ACTing on Values
  

Boston PainCare is offering a 4 week class titled "Mindfulness Skills and ACT" focusing on:Mindfulness and ACT Workshop

  • Improving sleep
  • Coping with emotions
  • Better concentration
  • Improving physical function
  • Managing Stress and Pain
  • Increasing self-confidence
  • More positive emotion

Participants will learn exercises to begin their own mindfulness based meditation practice, and they will learn Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) skills.  

These skills will strengthen your ability to respond effectively to thoughts and feelings, allowing you to act in ways that are in line with personal values.

 


Cultivating Mindfulness, Acting on Values  

Class Description

Boston PainCare offers a 4-part class using Mindfulness skills and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  This class will focus on increasing daily activity, improving physical functioning, and managing stress and pain effectively.     

Participants will be introduced to how mindfulness works, and the positive effects it can have on the body and mind.  Attendees will also discover new ways to respond to physical, mental and emotional stress.  

In addition,  patients will learn Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) skills.  These skills will strengthen your ability to respond effectively to thoughts and feelings, allowing you to act in ways that are in line with personal values.

What to Expect

Over the past 30 years, research on meditation and relaxation has shown regular meditation practice can result in:

  • Reduction of stress and pain
  • Reduction of stressful thinking
  • More self-confidence
  • More positive emotion
  • Better concentration
  • Improved sleep  

Class Structure

The class will be held for four consecutive weeks.  Each two hour class will include the following:

Walking the Path
  • Five minutes of silent meditation
  • Reflections on struggles, successes or questions
  • Skills/Teaching points for the day
  • Workshop activity
  • The mindfulness practice (sitting, walking, standing or informal practice)
  • Discussion
  • Weekly assignments

Taught by Matt Roselli, LICSW, ask your provider when the workshop series will be offered again.

As always, it will be open to BPC patients, family, and friends.
