Relax!Stress, worries, negative thoughts can make your chronic pain worse!

Negative thoughts, stress, worry, and muscle tension contribute to the severity of chronic pain. Relaxation and stress management techniques can help individuals gain more control over their body and thoughts as well as improve coping with pain. Examples of relaxation and stress management include deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided imagery.

Great Reads on Living With Chronic Pain -- a list of books recommended by our behavioral health specialists to help learn to cope with chronc pain.   Books offer solutions using a variety of strategies from mindfulness to time mangement and behavior modification therapies.

Palouse Mindfulness --This online Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training course is 100% free, created by a fully certified MBSR instructor, and is modeled on the program founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
